What to expect
Our Women's Self-Defense Camp offers an empowering and comprehensive experience, led by certified instructors Kim Biesenbach and Clayton van der Berg. Over four focused days, you'll master situational awareness, communication under stress, and hand-to-hand combat techniques. From rape defense to practical drills on family protection and escape tactics, this camp provides the essential skills and mental resilience you need to confidently navigate dangerous situations and protect yourself and your loved ones.
Arrival & Orientation
Arrive in the afternoon and settle into your accommodation. Meet your instructors, Kim Biesenbach and Clayton van der Berg, and fellow participants over a welcoming dinner. The evening will include an introduction to the Kalah Combat System, focusing on how it empowers women in real-life situations. We'll outline the camp's objectives and give you an overview of the upcoming training sessions.
Situational Awareness & Hand-to-Hand Combat
Start the day with situational awareness and learning to read body language to identify potential threats. In the afternoon, engage in intensive hand-to-hand combat training. You'll learn and practice effective techniques to defend yourself in real-world situations. The day will end with practical drills to reinforce these skills, ensuring you're more prepared to protect yourself in a real-world scenario.
Stress Management & Rape Defense
Begin the morning with a focus on managing communication under stress and making effective decisions in high-pressure scenarios. The afternoon will concentrate on learning and practicing rape defense techniques, equipping you with the skills necessary to defend against sexual assault. The day concludes with scenario-based drills that simulate common threats, providing an opportunity to apply your skills under realistic conditions.
Evacuation Tactics & Wrap-Up
On the final day, focus on evacuation and escape tactics, including practical drills on how to safely remove yourself and/or your family from dangerous situations.
After a final review of the skills you’ve gained, we’ll celebrate your progress with a group breakfast. Departure is at 11:00 am, leaving you way more empowered and equipped to face potential threats with confidence.

The Kalah Combat System, founded by Idan Abolnik in 2003, is a practical self-defense methodology focused on real-world scenarios, incorporating techniques for situational awareness, threat assessment, hand-to-hand combat, and defense against weapons.
The camp is open to women of all backgrounds and experience levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners, aged 15 and above.
No prior self-defense experience is required. Our instructors will guide you through all the basics and progressively build your skills.
Bring comfortable workout clothes, jeans, training shoes, personal hygiene items, a water bottle, a notepad, and any necessary medications. We recommend bringing sunscreen.
Accommodation is not included in the camp fee. It is available at an additional rate, with various options to suit different preferences and budgets.

Yes, all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) are included in the camp fee, starting with dinner on Thursday evening through breakfast on Sunday.
The camp includes morning and afternoon training sessions, with breaks for meals and evening group discussions. A detailed schedule will be provided upon registration.
The camp is designed as a comprehensive experience, so we encourage full participation. However, if you can only attend part of the camp, please contact us to discuss your situation.

Participants must be at least 15 years old. There is no upper age limit, but the camp involves physically demanding activities, so participants should be in good health.
Transportation to the venue is not provided. Participants are responsible for arranging their own travel. Directions and local transportation options will be provided upon registration.
